Rome, 1736. Abramo Cajvani and Angeluccio della Riccia, both Jewish, are reported for breaking and entering. According to the law of that time, they are sentenced to death. Routinely, the night before the execution, the condemned ones are assisted by the Brothers of San Giovanni Decollato Archconfraternity, who, in Christian compassion, waited on the last moments of those who were condemned to the death penalty. In this case, since the condemned ones are not Christians but Jewish, the Brothers ask and obtain more time to spend with them in order to convince them to repudiate the Jewish faith in favour of Christianity. This could save their souls. Confortorio was screened at Locarno in 1992.
