Anna Politkovskaja, killed the 7th October 2006 in front of the lift of her house, is the 211th journalist who has been killed in Russia since the end of the USSR. The film tells the story of Anna and Aleksandr, wife and husband, both journalists. He was a TV star in the second half of the 80s' and a symbol of the perestrojka while she was a brave and passionate witness of the Chechen tragedy from 1999 to 2005. The film retraces an extraordinary period of Russian history, from the extreme attempt to save the Communist utopia, to the end of the USSR and the rise to power of Putin.
