"When I get old, I will finally have time to read my books in the garden", said Enrico Cattaneo, alias "Ketto", on the day of his 90th birthday.
It sounds like a joke, but it is instead a sign of the wit and vitality that still today characterize him. Born in 1917 in a well-to-do family, he has gone through the XX century in an adventurous and original way.
A passionate film-maker, he has recorded some of most significant moments of his life spent around Bergamo, the Gromo mountains and during the war in Russia, where he was in the vanguard of a cinematographic unit of the army.
He has a degree in agriculture, but after the war, moved by an enthusiasm which is still infectious today, he found a job in the printing industry.
The vivid first person narration is interwoven with photos, footages, drawings, letters and books, all taken from his wide archive.
The effect is alienating: the great events of the last century are clearly present in the background, but they are seen as part of the daily life. The signs left from an intensely lived life have been selected with Ketto's collaboration in order to offer an interpretative path across the XX century as seen by an eccentric narrator.
